The 2008 PR League Results

The end of the 2008 season has come and the results are out.
Congratulations to Neil Beeby for winning, Nigel Greenaway for second place and Fred Cook in third. The trophies will be organised in the usual way.

The 2008 PR League table has been updated and Neil Beeby's absence from the Blue Team match means that he's dropped from 1st to 4th as Nigel Greenaway regains the lead with only 2 competitions to go!

Message from the NRA: Olympic Shooting

In case you haven't been told via other sources, this message was sent out by th NRA:

Please try and visit the shooting pages of the BBC Olympic website and support GB shooters. We have been told that the BBC will be monitoring the number of hits each site gets so this could be your opportunity to show the BBC just how popular shooting is.

The League results have been updated with the Imperial PR comp and the Beckingham Charity Shoot results.

The PR League 2008 table has also been started, the standings are exactly as the Fingringhoe Results, of course.

We've had confirmation that the Beckingham Charity PR Competition will be taking place this year on the 26th of July. Also The Kemble will be taking place at the end of this year on the 9th of November. Other dates to be confirmed.

With the 2008 PR league beginning in less than a month it is about time we acknowledge the winners of the 2007 league.

So, congratulation to Nigel Greenaway for coming 1st in the 2007 Practical Rifle League, with a score of 491.76 in only 5 competitions.
Further congratulations go out to Bill Ellis for a 2nd place finish with 471.81 points and Chris Vale for 3rd place with a score of 459.84.

Trophies will be presented at the earliest opportunity in the upcoming competitions.

Thank you to all those who took part in the 2007 League and all those who helped organise the competitions over the last year.

On the 1st of March 2008 the Highpower Rifle Association will be hosting the South East PR Competition. And on the 30th of March the Aberystwyth RPC will be hositing the Mid Wales PR Competition.

The Kemble information and entry forms are now online! The competition will be held on the 4th of November, so make sure you sign up ASAP!

The results for the Diggle PR Competion, which took place on the 16th of June, are now available.

Held at the Diggle Ranges. The ranges offer shooting from distances of less than 100yrds out to 1000yrds

Shot on the converted gallery Electronic Targetry Range in Beckingham (Nr Newark). ALL entry fees to be donated equally to The Army Benevolent Fund & Cancer Research UK.

Full results for the Southern competition at East Holme and the Mid Wales competition at Llansilin are now available online.

We are going to change the system of scoring for the 2007 PR League to comstock. So instead of each competition winner getting 30 points and the rest of us getting one point less pro rata regardless of how well we might have scored, the comstock system will ensure that the difference in league points will reflect the difference in competition points and be a fairer representation of how a competitor has competed against his/her fellow competitors.

The League score for first place in any competition will be 100 and the rest of our scores will be worked out as a percentage of that. For
example if first place scored 300 and the second & third scored 200 & 100 respectively the league scores would be 1st 100, 2nd 66 and 3rd 33. In reality these scores will go to decimal places I'm sure you get the drift.

So far we have confirmation of two dates for next year's PR League, these are Bangor on the 2nd - 4th of March and the Southern at East Holme on the 31st or March.

Congratulations to Steve Oakland for winning the 2006 PR League (144 points) and to Chris Vale (143) & Bill Ellis (140) for coming second & third respectively. Not a lot in it for these three with the next nearest being on 128.
